Team DPS’ Jyme Bridges will be looking to defend his 2015 Rienzi Cycle Classic win when the perennial OWTU sponsored race pedals off on 5th June from OWTU Headquarters in San Fernando. The race will take its regular course to Point Fortin through the Mosquito Creek, Otaheite and La Brea. The cyclists will be challenged through Mora Road where they will then head through Buenos Ayres, Palo Seco, Siparia where they finish in front of the Fyzabad Secondary School.

Last year, Bridges won the event in a sprint finish just ahead of Guy Costa and James Hadeed (both of Heatwave) in just under 2 hours’ time. This year, he is sure to have similar foes lurking for a chance to dethrone the defending champ. Bridges is in a good nick of form though after winning the inaugural Central Spokes Bike Fest in Gran Couva in mid-May. Bridges’ teammate, Russell Elcock was second in that race and will undoubtedly be another danger man in the pack.

The Braves’ Gevan Samuel, the defending National Road Champion and third place in Gran Couva two weeks ago will also be a threat while the likes of youngsters such as Jabari Whiteman (Southclaine) and Tyler Cole (Team DPS) will also be looking to pull off an upset.

It will all unfold on the morning of Sunday 5th June, we wait to see who will come out victorious.
