The National Cycling Centre came alive on Saturday afternoon as the TTCF hosted the second leg of the 2017 Track Series at the indoor velodrome. The 3-hour packed session featured Sprint, 500m Time Trial, 2km Individual Pursuit, Elimination and Tempo Race events for the Juvenile Men, Junior Men, Elite Women and Elite Men categories.

Keron Bramble (Sonics) showed good early season form as he took the Elite Men Sprint and 500m races. In the former, Bramble qualified second fastest in a time of 10.89 seconds, just behind Quincy Alexander (Team DPS) in a time of 10.81 seconds. After respectively dispatching their counterparts in the Semi-Final round, the face-off between the two fastest qualifiers was a bit of an anti-climax as Alexander was relegated for using the below the black line to gain an advantage in the final sprint. Thireef Smart (Breakaway CC) copped third after his rival, Sei Daniel (AWCC) was also disqualified in their match-up.

Teniel Campbell qualified fastest in the Elite Women Flying 200m with a time of 12.38 and easily went on to take top honours against Dahlia Palmer. Young Juvenile sensation, Enrique De Comarmond conqured a field of season Elite cyclists in the 2km Individual Pursuit after he clocked a time of 2:26.83 just a second ahead of Jyme Bridges (Team DPS) in 2:27.55 and Edwin Sutherland (Heatwave CC) in 2:30.87.

Bramble would get another up on Alexander as he took the 500m Time Trial in a time of 33.60 seconds while the Arima native stopped the clock at 34.00 seconds. Kollyn St. George (Breakaway) was the fastest in the women in a time of 36.50 seconds.

In the over subscribed final event, 10km Tempo Race, a tactical move by Sutherland, Eastmond and Bridges saw them lapping the field with just about 8 laps remaining. It all came down to the final sprint as Bridges needed one point to take the overall race, however it was not to be. Sutherland would eventually be named the winner with Bridges in second and Eastmond rounding out the top 3.

The TTCF Track Series continues at the Arima Velodrome on Sunday from 3:00pm
