St. George smashes 500m record at Arima

Breakaway sprint Queen, Kollyn St. George obliterated the Elite Women’s 500m Time Trial Arima Velodrome record on Monday night when she recorded 36.521 seconds on the electronic timer. The current Junior Pan American Record holder’s time was almost 3 seconds quicker than the previous record of 39.314. Keiana Lester (BikeSmith) who was second in the Elite Women’s event also set her own personal best in a time of 38.503.

Nicholas Paul (Breakaway) made it a three-peat of Sprint events among the Junior Men after he clocked a nippy 1:09.163 in the 1km TT to beat his newly found worthy competitor, Je’Land Sydney (Team Kallisto) who stopped the clock at 1:09.992. Thireef Smart (Petrotrin) was the victor in the Elite Men version of the 1km Time Trial

Joel Browne (AWCC) continued his fine form of breaking track records when he captured the 500m Time Trial for Masters 55-59 while Roger Malco (Team Foundation) took the Masters 40-44 750m Time Trial also in a new track record. Jabari Whiteman (Southclaine) completed his almost perfect run at the Juvenile Championships when he too set a new record in the 500m Time Trial for Juvenile Men earlier in the night.

In the final events of the Championships, Points Race for Elite & Junior Men, Tyler Cole (Team DPS) captured yet another National Crown while the diligent, Sheldon Ramjit (Hummingbirds) fought valiantly for a well deserved National title.
