McCord to instruct MTB Commissaire Course

He has officiated in the three Olympic Games (1996, 2000 & 2008) and countless World Championships, World Cups and Pan American Championships over his 22 year as a UCI International Commissaire. Andrew McCord has been one of the top UCI Commissaire Instructors around the world for close to a decade and he is in Trinidad this weekend to conduct the TTCF’s first ever Commissaire Course in the discipline of Mountain Biking.
Since 2012, the TTCF has adopted the discipline officially under its umbrella and it has seen it naturally grow from a hobby like sport to us producing our first ever National MTB team to compete in the Caribbean MTB Championships in September this year. With this clearly positive growth, the TTCF flew in one of the best to mentor and teach our local officials.
Stemming from the TTCF’s goal to increase its capacity a Commissaire Course for Track and Road was instructed by Randy Shafer two weekends ago. This weekend, Andy McCord will be conducting an intense 2-day course at the SPORTT Company’s Office in Port of Spain to fifteen (15) hopeful MTB Commissaires. To date, T&T does not have any certified MTB Commissaires. This will all change on Sunday after successful attendees will see them become such.
McCord who has been to Trinidad on two occasions in 2013 to officiate; the first being the Njisane 3 Day Cycling Festival and then again for the UCI 1.2 Tour of Tobago, will be bringing a wealth of knowledge to pass onto some budding MTB Commissaires.
The TTCF will like to thank our sponsors, who without them, this course would not have been possible! Thank you to the generous assistance of Perfection Services Limited, Mike's Bikes and the Sports Company of Trinidad & Tobago!
