The 3rd and final leg of the 2016 TTCF Road Series, sponsored by Breakaway CC comes to a climatic end on Saturday in Chaguaramas. The 27km Road Time Trial is right up the alley for the leader in the Road Series Standings, Russell Elcock (Team DPS).
The Bajan cyclist, who is a former Caribbean Junior Time Trial Champion and the reigning Barbados National Road Time Trial Champion, is lapping up the opportunity to seal the Road Series win. Going into the finale, Elcock sits pretty on 14 points with a fellow Bajan counterpart, Phillip Clarke his closest rival on 10. Adam Alexander (Team Foundation) is in 3rd with 9, while Jamol Eastmond (Heatwave) is on 7 points.
Tyler Cole (Team DPS) leads the Junior Men category with a unassailable 7-point lead with 10 points while Teniel Campbell (Team DPS) leads the Women Open category by 4 points with a maximum 10 points.
The Road Series leaderboard has been calculated on points, however, for the 2016 Road Series, the TTCF will also be issuing prizes for the cyclists who completed all three legs in the quickest time. After two events, there’s no surprise that Elcock leads that race but just by a mere 49 seconds ahead of Phillip Clarke (Unattached) and 3 minutes ahead of Jyme Bridges (Team DPS).
In memory of Mr. E. D Cole who passed away while riding at Skinner Park years ago, there will also be cash prizes for the winners of the different categories.
