Ryan D’Abreau won the boys youth development Under-13 keirin event to help Arouca Government clinch the Champion School Award on the closing day of the T&T Cycling Federation/First Citizens Sports Foundation National Youth Championships at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Sunday.

D’Abreau, also representing the Arima Wheelers Cycling Club (AWCC), won numerous events during the three-day meet. In Sunday’s keirin final, he got the better of Southclaine’s Densil Phirangee (silver) and Breakaway’s Jeremiah Charles (bronze). Students from La Romaine Government, Arima Central Secondary, Lakshmi Girls and Sacred Heart Girls also displayed creditable performances. La Romaine Government led the school standings after day two, but could not hold on to the lead.

Cyclists were also in action in the team pursuit, team sprint and points race events on the closing day of the competition.
