Njisane 4th in Pan Am Keirin

Njisane Phillip fell just shy of securing precious metal in the Men Keirin this evening after finishing 4th in the Final. Pan Am Games Gold medalist and eventual winner, Fabian Puerta (COL), Hersony Canelon (VEN) and Kacio Da Silva (BRA) pipped the Trinbagonian on the line in a photo finish.
Phillip qualified for the Final after finishing second in Round 1 Heat 2 behind Matt Baranoski (USA) and then third in Round 2 Heat 1 behind Puerta and Canelon. Quincy Alexander however was unable to make it out of the Round 1 Repechage.
Earlier in the day, Akil Campbell placed an impressive 8th in the Men Scratch in his Elite Pan Am debut. Jodi Goodridge and Aziza Browne were 9th and 10th overall in the 500m Time Trial after clocking times of 36.922 and 38.153 respectively. The eventual winner was Jessica Salazar (MEX). The 4km Individual Pursuit for Men saw Jovian Gomez and Gavyn Nero finish in 12th adn 14th place overall.
Tomorrow, Jodi Goodridge and Aziza Browne will contest the Sprints in the morning session as they line up as the 4th and 5th cyclists out of 16 to attempt the Flying 200m. Varun Maharajh will also begin his Omnium medal hunt tomorrow starting with the Omnium I - Scratch Race and Omnium II - 4km Individual Pursuit during the morning session.
In the afternoon, Maharajh will return to contest the 3rd event in the Omnium for their Day 1 with the Elimination. Also in the afternoon session, Justin Roberts will open his Pan Am account when he participates in the 1km Time Trial.
